Assignment #22

Part A: Globalization is the growth world wide. This means that the population is increasing and it's on a large scale.
Part B: In a large community it would be common to look the same as everyone else of the same ethnicity . This is because, there are certain traits that you get from ancestors and you are most likely to inherit them and so will your children and your children's children etc.
Part C: While playing around with "The face of tomorrow", I found that The face of tomorrow, means that in different parts of the world there are people that look slightly similar and this means that they were all being compared and they found that when they stacked pictures, some features combined to make a "new person" like skin color and eye shape. Our faces are different ,because they unique in the sense that you get your facial features from many generations back and that's what makes your identity. What surprised me was that when you combined faces from the same culture they looked almost alike ,but when you did it from different cultures then the face changed a lot; I think this because they are mixed ethnicity's.
Part D:

This is what I think the average face of tomorrow will look like. I think this because, It's a female and males only over populate us by about 2% so in a couple of years we might catch up to that and we may even over populate males. I also think that this is the face of tomorrow, because the world is going through globalization so that means everyday females are being born all over the world and they may one day look like this^^. finally, I think this is the face of tomorrow, because I searched up the most populated countries in the world and I found face that looked like they were from that race so I got faces that looked like they were from : China, India, United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Russia, and Japan.

Part E: I don't think that my face represents my nationality because when people look at me they just assume that I'm just black; But when they really get to know me they will know that I am half black and half Indian. :O ikr?? you would have never guessed...

Although I think this, I  think that it does represent my family well because some of my brothers and sisters  skin tones are different but mine is in between.

Assignment #24

If I was illegible to vote in the may 2nd election, I would vote for the conservatives party, and the candidate would be Stephen Harper. I think they would do the best job, because in the article I read, it said that the Conservatives are working towards strengthening businesses which means that the would be more employers so families would be supported by them getting better jobs. I would vote for him because he promised to reduce government sales taxes (GST), so that means that we won't have to spend as much money as we already do now when we buy things from the store. He said he will also complete the Dempster highway connecting, Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk. Maybe this is a metaphor for he wants to make Canada more connected and united. Finally, I would vote for This party, because Stephen Harper promised that we will be free trade partners with India so that means we will have lots of resources that India has but we don't and things that we have and India doesn't.

Assignment #23

In China, with teenagers my age, there is 17.6%.
In Canada, with teenagers my age, there are 15.7%.
I bet it changed by now because that was recorded in July and I bet more people became in that age range in both countries.

In China, the median age is for males is 34.9, and for females it's 36.2.
In Canada, the median age for males is 39.8, and for females it's 42.1.
From this, I could infer that it's common in more than one country, that females always live longer than males.

In China, the population is  1,336,718,015 and still growing.
In Canada, the population is 34,030,589 and still growing as well.
From this I can tell that there are more people living in China and it makes up a BIG  majority of the world

Something that is in common between the two countries is that their natural resources are coal, iron ore, natural gas, and zinc.
Something that is different is that Canada is 9,984,670 sq km while China is  9,596,961 sq km

               China

             Canada

History fair response!

4 - The four most interesting things that you learned about your topic in your researching.
  • I learned that maple syrup was originated by the aboriginals but then the Europeans stole the idea and made it their own.
  • I also learned that there's a thing called MSUD and it is a disease that is passed down through Generations of ancestors who had it.
  • Something else I learned, was that Canada produces 83% of the worlds maple syrup
  • Finally, I learned that during world war 2,maple syrup had to be rationed because there was only a limited supply.
3 - Three things that you felt proud of on the day of the Fair
  • I was proud that I got all my work done on time for the history fair
  • I was also proud of when the judges asked us questins we were able to answere them
  • Finally, I was proud that even though My partner and I didn't make it to the regional history fair, we still learned a lot about our topic and we could use it for future reference.
  • 2 - Two specific researching or presentation techniques that were helpful to make your project so wonderful.
  • Oue costumes added to the presentation because we really got into our characters
  • Also, as the fair went on, we started to remember our speeches so we didn't need our que cards for the whole fair.
1 - One suggestion to make the History Fair even better in the future.

  •  I think that it would be better, if we got to do topic that was out of the grade eight time line, because we would still be learning something and we would be happy with what we choose.

    assignment # 19: If I had $100

this is assignment #19 on ms. Pollock's blog and assignment #9 on ms. Crosbie's blog An ethical gift, is a gift that truly matters, for someone in need. For example, you don't really need a  fancy new expensive pair of jeans; wouldn't you rather  spend the money on someone who needs it more than you? You could donate the money to a charity or you could buy gifts to send to a developing country. If I had $100, I would donate to World Vision, Samaritans Purse, Global giving, and Free Rice. From World Vision, I want to donate $35, for 3 Guinea pigs because growing up I never had any pets but I know how much children love the so I want to bring Joy to 3 children in south America. This could also bring good income to the family by breeding them and selling them too. From world Vision also, I want to donate  $30 to feed a hungry Canadian family. I want to donate this because everyone always donates over seas like to Africa, but those people who donate that money don't realize that people all around us could be in need. For Samaritan's purse I want to donate $10 to somewhere that needs it the most, because if your un -sure if what to do with your money ( like i was) you could give it to the company and they'll send it to a place that needs it the most. For Global Giving, I want to donate $25 to provide a safe home for Haitian orphans, because the earthquake last year was probably traumatizing to them to loose their parents and I could imagine what it would be like to have to fend for themselves. My last organization that I wont to donate to is Free rice, it cost nothing but it is for a good cause. Basically, what free rice is, it's a website where you could answer questions in either art, chemistry, English, geography, math, and language learning. for every question you answer right it is donated to a country in need.
